Interdisciplinary Center for Advanced Studies in Water

NACQUA is an interdisciplinary and international network for research in water resources, based at the UFSJ (Federal University of São João del-Rei, Brazil). NACQUA is composed of researchers, students and members of both public and private institutions from Brazil and foreign countries. NACQUA was founded in 2018 and has been allowing the development of partnerships among high profile national and international professionals and researchers in water resources, progressively expanding its influence area beyond the limits of its base institution.

Researchers at NACQUA are particularly interested in five core lines of investigation:

1. Water in public health and human well-being issues

2. Global changes and water use in large-scale activities (e.g., agriculture, energy generation)

3. Global changes (climate and land use shifts) and their impacts on aquatic ecosystems

4. Development and application of water treatment techniques and methodologies

5. Public policies, governance and water regulation
