The Graduate Program in Bioengineering (PPBE), master's and doctoral levels, was conceived and created at the initiative of the Department of Biosystems Engineering (DEPEB) at UFSJ, in partnership with the National Corn and Sorghum Research Center (CNPMS) of EMBRAPA. Approved by CAPES in 2009, it had its first class of students entering the first semester of 2010.
The area of concentration of PPBE is Biological Systems Engineering, divided into three lines of research: i) Bioengineering of Cellular and Tissue Systems; ii) Bioengineering of Neuronal Systems and iii) Bioengineering of Ecological Systems.
